Gucci down to the socks…where??? Louis Vuitton and Coach who? It was nice to see a Spring/Summer 2018 collection from Dolce & Gabbana that was so fresh, so fun and literally just made you want everything in the store. It was like a “who knew” moment walking through the two levels of the Fifth Ave store in New York City. Of course the champagne was flowing, but the poker themed night left us all thinking this Spring its all about D&G.
Brooklyn born Justine Skye signed to Roc Nation at just 21 years old is a growing force to be reckoned with. I will say I was excited to attend this album release party because I hadn’t had the pleasure to see this young woman perform or indulge in her previous songs but I have to say I was truly impressed not only with her but her FANS. They knew every word and were so supportive it was touching. As you walked through the Lightbox event space in Times Square with a Purple Unicorn Dusse cocktail in your hands, the walls displayed comic book Justine Skye dealing with relationships and you ultimately learned that his album is her level up moment where ultraviolet is her grown woman place of peace and time to show the world she is not just the young girl with the purple hair but a diva in the making.

The NYC store opening was bright and packed with beauty lovers trying out products and sipping cocktails.
The products are cruelty-free, paraben free, phtalate free and non-toxic which is why it’s my new Spotlight makeup brand for November. I was super excited to find a Matte Lip Velour in the gift bag when I got home in Smitten color which is such a great daytime Nude for an effortless look. You can get yours at 69 Ludlow Street. As a child of the 80’s, I grew up in a time where “perms” aka a relaxer for young black girls to get their hair straight. The conversation about being natural versus having a relaxer is a big topic amongst black women. Speaking on behalf of my partner and I we are both natural and deal with our own hair journeys everyday. Well now “The Curl Revolution” is upon us and not just black women have joined. Both genders and all ethnicities filled the Lightbox in New York City to meet Michelle Breyer, NaturallyCurly co-founder and author of The Curl Revolution:Inspiring Stories and Practical Advice from the Naturally Curly Community. Also see some of the cool products I received! (more…)
