By Amber Monaé

Inspired by the Middle Eastern market’s captivating energy as well as French fashion muse, Loulou de la Falaise’s, eclectic bohemian spirit, Sachin & Babi’s show celebrated diversity and the marriage of old world charm with effortless, contemporary style. The collection was combined of classic evening wear such as silks and sequins with unexpected colors. Journey to Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar – a crossroads of history, cultures and modern trade. Indulge your senses with vibrant tapestries, rich textures and bold spices. Here, among the merchants and craftsman is where the Spring/Summer 2018 collection was conceived. The pieces combine classic evening wear elements such as tulle, silks and sequins with unexpected colors and graphic Ottoman textiles. Determined to maintain cultural integrity, the couple sewed back into the region by sourcing original Ikat fabrics from Turkish artisans and enlisting a local manufacturer to create this season’s shoes. Torrid S/S 2018 Presentation

By Amber Monaé

One of the most anticipated shows of the season wasn’t your typical designer but in fact a brand that can be regularly found in any mall. The brand I speak of is none other than Torrid. Who would’ve thought?! I was able to score a front row seat to the hottest ticket in town which already had previews of what was to come in Allure.com and Refinery 29. If you are not familiar with the store it sells trendy and affordable pieces for sizes 10-30. I might not be the brand’s demographic but I loved everything I saw and was inspired to remix some of my own pieces. See here.  (more…)
