FIT’s Future of Fashion 2017 Runway Show

One week after the biggest fashion event in New York City took place at the Met Gala, FIT’s Future of Fashion Runway show was held to celebrate and showcase the work of the college’s most talented graduating Fashion Designers. Its the Fashion Institute of Technology’s highly anticipated end of year runway show and it featured some sensational, innovative looks created by the college’s top graduating Fashion Design students.

Sponsored by Calvin Klein Inc, and the Calvin Klein Family Foundation, the students were able to take home awards that included Critics and People’s Choice awards in the categories of sportswear, special occasion, knitwear, intimate apparel, and children’s wear. Throughout the spring semester, designers mentored students as they created their collections, including Chris Gelinas, Erin Rechner, Flora Gill, Karen Sabag, Morgan Curtis, Victoria Lambourne, Isabella Tonchi, Peter DoSander Lak and Sophie Theallet. Once the students’ collections were complete, five accomplished fashion industry professionals judged the designs to determine which garments earned a coveted spot on the runway. This year’s judges were Ken Downing (Neiman Marcus), Nicole Phelps (Vogue Runway), Lilliana Vazquez (TODAY), Diana Tsui (New York magazine’s The Cut) and Kemal Harris (stylist).Some of fashion’s most prominent names were in attendance from Dennis Basso and Fern Mallis to Ruth Finley and Ty Hunter just to name a few. Inaugural Blue Jacket Fashion Show

As New York Men’s Fashion Week came to a close one of the highlights of the week was the 2017 inaugural Blue Jacket Fashion Show brought out celebrities on the blue carpet for a great cause. In partnership with Johnson & Johnson it benefited the Prostate Cancer Foundation and took place Wednesday, Feb. 1st at Pier59 Studios. It brought together the best of  fashion, entertainment, sports, healthcare and media worlds to generate national buzz and bring much needed attention to men’s cancer awareness and prevention, with an emphasis on prostate cancer.


The Host brought the funny Mr. Carson Kressley wearing Nicole Miller

Playing the hilarious host of the night Carson Kressley gave us the facts about the terrible disease. According to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, statistics show that prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in America. It affects every one out of eight men at some point in their lifetimes. Every 2.9 minutes a man is diagnosed with prostate cancer, and millions of men and their families are fighting this disease on any given day across the globe.

Top designers Nicole Miller, Haspel, Proper Cloth, Theory, Joseph Abboud, Gustavo Moscoso, Stephen Ferber, Nick Graham, Thom Browne, John Varvatos, Rag & Bone and Maggie Norris were enlisted to reinvent the traditional blue blazer and was  showcased by celebrities and influencers on the runway. The night started off with a musical performance from Ian Mellencamp of his hit song Headspace and end a surprise performance after the end of the runway from Singer Meldba Moore. After the fashion show, the select designer jackets were auctioned off with proceeds benefitting the PCF along with dinner and blue cocktails to end the night.

Loris Diran Men’s Fall 2017 After Party


Jia Lounge nestled on Lower East Side was the place to celebrate Loris Diran’s Men’s Fall 2017 after party. Jia means “Home” in Mandarin. Its a shared living room that was the perfect space translate the inspiration of the collection that was Chinese and Indian inspired . One of the looks was a wool military field jacket with a Mandarin collar and was paired with palazzo pants. The dark living room home like lounge decorated with flower wallpaper with matching couches and lamps.  Guests sipped Pommery champagne and Peroni Italy cocktails.








Lethal Weapon and the First “Pitch” Screening

We are now into the Fall season of new shows and old shows and HelloBeautiful hosted a screening of the new TV adaptation of the movie franchise “Lethal Weapon” a couple days before it aired on Fox at 8pm. I have to say I LOVED it! Right after Lethal Weapon then the audience was able to watch the new show “Pitch” about the first woman playing in Major League Baseball. I guess the Thursday night lineup on ABC has some competition on FOX. Take a look at the fashionable attendees.  (more…)
