Simply Stylist Sunday

By Amber Monaé

On Sunday I attended the Fashion & Beauty conference at the W Hotel here in New York thrown by Simply Stylist. Simply Stylist was founded in 2009 and since then there have been events in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. The company provides tools and tips from a panel of industry experts to those interested in fashion, styling, and beauty and I was one of them.

11As I’ve said many times I am a #stylehunter for StyleWatch magazine and was fortunately gifted with a ticket to the event. Once I arrived and checked-in, I walked on over to have a seat and didn’t realize I was sitting next to the powerhouse that is June Ambrose. Well, I didn’t hesitate and started chatting her up about life in the industry and has she ever had a ” I want to quit” moment. June was sophisticated, warm and very inspiring. Lets just say she’s never had that moment!

Here we are together.. clearly the makeup I wore looked great in person not so much on camera. Smh, messing up my moment

From that point on the panels took place hosted by the stylish Catt Sadler of ENews. She walked into the room rocking slick hair, an all-black outfit with a faux fur Trina Turk jacket, she came for us to take note. Catt was her usual upbeat fun self asking all the questions we wanted to know, like the ever popular who are you wearing? But of course there were serious questions as to what was the moment you realized you made it? Or what advice would you give yourself now looking back?

Cara Santana, Tiarra Monet and Brandi Cyrus…this was the most relatable panel yet. How to build your brand?! Tiarra mentioned in this industry we are always looking for something more never appreciating how far we have come. Preach Girl!

Model Ashley Graham was serving nothing but confidence as a guest speaker

Now this group of guest speakers were hilarious and very down to earth especially Lilliana (c) she was no holds bar about being in the industry but still being a fan. As she stated she’s a real person with real feelings and can’t change that because of who you’ve become.

The Fantastic Four… Madison, Olivia, Brandi & Catt (see the coat)

After the inspirational moments it was time to mix and mingle with the help of sponsors Dove and ShopStyle.
