Last night, I had the pleasure to attend Harper’s Bazaar’s party showcasing art from the renowned Donald Drawbertson, with vivid colors and great use of imagination there is something uniquely cool about his pieces.
They are definitely pieces that need to be viewed more than once to get the full cusp of his ideas. Donald is currently working on a children’s book which I think is a great idea based off his art alone. The man doesn’t just stop with books and paintings he also paints faces as he is the creative director for Smashbox and once Bobbi Brown. When asked to describe the difference between the brands he stated, Smashbox is more LA and Bobbi Brown is simply NY. I then asked what he considers himself and in one perfect word, Bi-coastal. Check out a few pieces that were shown at Eric Firestone gallery in Soho, NY.
Here I am with the man himself. You can see more of Donald’s pieces this December in Miami at Art Basel.
